He attended Mercer County Community College with an Associate in Arts degree and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Farleigh Dickinson University. David became a Virologist for the State of New Jersey and was accepted at New York Chiropractic College graduating with a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree in 1980.
He was offered various opportunities to practice in New York and Pennsylvania, but always wanted to return to Lawrence Township to serve the residents, both personally and professionally.
Dr. Maffei opened his first office in 1981 at 725 Lawrenceville Road and in less than four years he had moved to 600 Lawrenceville Road, which was his boyhood home. His last office location was in his home at 3640 Lawrenceville Road, where he retired in 2005.
Dr. Maffei has been married to his wife, Leona, for 46 years. Leona was a former 8th grade American History teacher and left that job to work with David in the chiropractic office. Together they always had time to devote their talents and ideas to community events.
Dr. Maffei has served as Vice Chair of the Planning Board and participated in the Growth and Redevelopment Committee. He attends St. Ann’s Church and was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 7000, and has attained 4th degree status.
