Councilman Stephen Brame
Steve Brame and his family have lived in the Township for more than twenty years and have been active in the community. He was selected by Council to complete the remaining unexpired Term of Councilman Greg Puliti who resigned as of December 31, 2012. Steve resigned as Chairman of the Lawrence Township Zoning Board of Adjustment, where he has served for many years, to assume the Council position. Steve is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of Every Child Valued, an Organizationwhose mission is to establish a community that encourages and motivates all young residents of Lawrence Township to reach their highest potential as educated, mature and fulfilled adults. Steve and his wife, Joan, are co-owners of Empower Fitness, an exercise facility for women which has been located in the Lawrence Shopping Center for nine years.
Mr. Brame has a strong background in urban economic and community development. He has served as executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Trenton, Inc. leading the organization in land acquisition and development of new and rehabilitated homes throughout the Trenton area. He was a key participant in a collaboration of non-profit organizations which came be known as the East Trenton Collaborative, Inc. which came together to comprehensively address issues affecting this neighborhood; and he served on its Board of Trustees for five years. Steve was Manager of Community Programs of the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency; Vice president of A Better Camden Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NJHMFA; director of Urban Programs of the New Jersey Department of Commerce and Economic Development; and director of Economic and Community Development, for the Borough of Carteret, New Jersey;
Mr. Brame received his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Rutgers University in 1976 and his Jurist Doctor degree in 1980 from Rutgers University School of Law-Newark. He is a member of the New Jersey State Bar and is licensed to practice law before the Federal District Court, for the District of New Jersey.
